Chopping Wood & Carrying Water: Sober October Day 22

The newness of sobriety may have worn off, and the routines are just getting... routine. As bland as a bowl of plain oatmeal. Some days I just have to focus on 'chopping wood and carrying water' and here are some things that help me keep moving:

- Forget perfectionism. Do a crappy job at first if that's what it takes to get started.

- Set a timer for the task. Do only as much as the timer says, unless you're enjoying yourself!

- Chip away at things. Set small daily tasks.

- Get silly. Can you make it fun?

- Create meaning. Does what you're doing (or trying to do) make anyone's life a little better? - Don't 'Should' yourself.

- Take a little downtime. Your body is doing hard work and may need some rest. Do you need a nap, or a little non-sleep rest to increase dopamine?

- Eat the frog. If there's something you REALLY don't want to do, try doing it first. You'll build willpower with your aMCC, and you'll get that frog out of the way first.
